The BJRU are responsible for administering competition matches for 27 Junior Rugby Clubs and over 8000 young players.

The BJRU recently (25th Nov, 2025) held its Annual General Meeting, during which several longstanding members of the Board and Committee concluded their service.

After 15 years of dedicated BJRU Board involvement, President John Miller has stepped away from the Board. Throughout his tenure, John worked tirelessly with our stakeholders, @rugbyau , @queenslandrugby, @queenslandcountryrugby , @gcdru , @sunshinecoastrugby and @downsrugby, Queensland Junior Rugby Union (QJRU) when they were an entity, the @qldrugbyrefs aside from all of the BJRU clubs, affiliates and ours Sponsors. He has played a significant role in guiding the growth of junior rugby and strengthening development pathways across the region.

We also acknowledge the service of Vice President Jason Hicks, South Region Chairperson Ruth Lythall, and Committee Member Tim Huntley, who have likewise stepped down from their respective positions. Their commitment, leadership, and contributions have been greatly valued and have had a lasting impact on the BJRU and the broader junior rugby community.

At the AGM, new committee members were elected to continue this important work. We congratulate Ben Marczyk, who was appointed as the new President; Brett Cluley, who will serve as Vice President; and Brooklyn Manu, who has joined as Marketing and Sponsorship Committee Member. Two additional positions remain open: a second General Committee Member and the South Region Chairperson.

Under 6s to Under 9s, we’re excited to see your Super Powers this weekend ...
On Saturday 19th July, the U6-9 teams have the chance to dress in their Super Hero outfits and show us their Super Powers on the field.
We are asking club members to send in a photo of players, in their Super Power outfit on game day - U6s and U7s, please ensure that no costume pieces including capes have hard or sharp pieces that could injure someone during a match.
U8s and U9s - dress up before or after your games.
Pics must include our Gilbert / Wahu branded match-balls - check with your club if your team doesn't have one.
Send via the Facebook Messenger on our page or email to reprugby@bjru.com.au, with the player's First Name, age group and the club they play for - along with your permission for us to post on our Social Media Pages.
Wahu Gifts will be forwarded to the clubs who have entered eligible pics and they will award to their favourite Super Heroes in the coming weeks.

Our Under 10 & 11 Development Program is all about giving young players an unforgettable experience — filled with fun, teamwork, and skill-building — no matter their club, division, or experience level.
At its heart, this program is designed to help kids fall in love with the game, build confidence, make new friends, and create lasting memories in a safe and supportive environment.
Launched in 2023, the program prepares U10 & U11 players for the next step in their rugby journey by introducing new skills and giving them the chance to play as part of regional teams — competing with and against other kids from across the greater Brisbane area.
After a fantastic launch 2 years ago, we’re thrilled to bring it back for 2025 as we gear up for an even bigger and better 2026 season!

4️⃣ awesome training sessions with players from all over Brisbane beginning Monday 4th August - field space permitting
♨️A high-energy Under 10s and Under 11s Skills Development Twilight Carnival
🗓 Friday 5th & Saturday 6th September, 2025
